Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the exciting last book where Harry and his friends face their biggest challenge to finally defeat the evil Lord Voldemort!

When this book came out, it broke all the records for how many books were sold! More people bought this book in just one day than any other book ever before. In the United States, 8.3 million copies were sold, and in the United Kingdom, 2.65 million copies flew off the shelves! People generally loved the book, and it even won awards. Later, they made the book into two movies, which came out in 2010 and 2011.

In this story, Harry is almost 17 years old. Right away, things get dangerous! Harry and his friends are attacked by bad guys called Death Eaters, and some sad things happen. Lord Voldemort tries to catch Harry but can't. Soon, Voldemort and his Death Eaters take over the wizard government, called the Ministry of Magic. So, Harry, his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, have to go on a secret mission. They need to find and destroy special evil objects called Horcruxes that make Voldemort immortal. If they destroy them all, Voldemort can finally be defeated.

They sneak into the Ministry of Magic and find one Horcrux, but it's super hard to destroy. This evil object even makes Ron feel really grumpy and he leaves for a bit. Harry and Hermione face more dangers, like Voldemort's snake, Nagini. Ron comes back just in time to save Harry and destroy the Horcrux with a special sword!

The friends learn about three magical items called the Deathly Hallows: a super powerful wand, a stone that can bring people back, and a cloak that makes you invisible. They get captured by bad guys but escape with the help of a brave house-elf named Dobby, who sadly gets hurt helping them. They break into a super secure bank called Gringotts to find another Horcrux.

Harry then realizes another Horcrux is hidden at his school, Hogwarts. A huge battle starts at Hogwarts between the good wizards and the Death Eaters. Harry, Ron, and Hermione find and destroy more Horcruxes during this fight. One of the Horcruxes is accidentally destroyed by a fire spell that goes out of control.

Voldemort steals a very powerful wand, the Elder Wand, but it doesn't work for him. He thinks a teacher named Snape is its true owner, so he hurts Snape badly. Before Snape dies, he shows Harry his memories. Harry learns that Snape actually loved Harry's mom and was secretly helping Dumbledore against Voldemort! Harry also finds out a shocking secret: a part of Voldemort's soul is inside him, making Harry a Horcrux too. This means Harry must die for Voldemort to truly be defeated. Harry bravely walks to meet Voldemort, ready to sacrifice himself.

Voldemort uses a deadly spell on Harry. But instead of dying, Harry wakes up in a dream-like place where he meets Dumbledore. Dumbledore explains that the spell only destroyed the piece of Voldemort's soul inside Harry, and Harry can choose to come back to life! Harry pretends to be dead, and Voldemort brings his 'body' back to Hogwarts. But Harry is alive! The battle starts again, and Harry finally fights Voldemort one last time. The Elder Wand refuses to hurt Harry because Harry is its true master. The deadly spell bounces back, and Voldemort is finally defeated forever.

The story ends with a look into the future, 19 years later. Harry and his friends are grown up with children of their own, sending them off to Hogwarts. Everyone is happy and safe, showing that good won over evil.
